His Britannic Majesty's Supreme Court for China has power in certain cases to order the removal of British subjects from China to certain other places, and from one part of China to another, for the purposes of trial, imprisonment

and deportation. For the purpose of currying out such

removal the court has power to require the master of any British ship to accept the person in question as a pas9-

enger. It is sometimes necessary to tranship such persona at Hongkong, but the Governor of Hongkong has no power to require the master of any ship to take them as pass-

engers. The bill proposes to fill up this gap in the prosedure. All other necessary powers som to be given by the Order in Council and by the Foreign Jurisdiction,

Act, 1890, under which the Order is made.
